This class offers a lot of hands-on time to practice techniques and answers all the questions about the precautions and contraindications of pregnancy so you can feel comfortable knowing you are providing safe and effective sessions for your clients. New and seasoned therapists alike can benefit from this class.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
· Anatomy and physiology for pregnancy and birth
· Pregnancy massage sequence
· Cautions and contraindications for pregnancy massage
· Guidelines for pregnancy massage for each trimester
· Massage cautions and variations for high-risk pregnancies
· Postpartum massage, with the principle of "mother roasting" - the application of heat, along with specific bodywork techniques for the recovery and realignment of the mother.
· Marketing your new skills to the public
WHAT TO BRING:
· 3 sets of sheets (massage sheets or twin size)
· 3 standard pillows (one of them should be firm enough for lying on the side)
· 1 king pillow
· Pillowcases
· An extra pillowcase or towel to use as a breast drape
· A blanket
· Please bring a sweater for class if you tend to get chilly. We will do our best to keep everyone comfortable, but a sweater may help some.
